Admitted to practice law in the state of Arizona
After several years as an attorney in Washington, D.C. and here in Phoenix, I decided somewhat unexpectedly to become a stay-at-home mom. My first child had some medical and developmental challenges, and I was struggling to line up the appropriate care and services.
It was a difficult and stressful period, but one that we were able to weather successfully, in large part because of my education and professional background. Sadly, I had come across many other parents and families on my journey who had more difficulty navigating "the system." It seemed so unfair, and I felt driven to try to help them.
After a few years volunteering assistance to friends and acquaintances and becoming active in the local disability community, I began consulting professionally as JK Voices, LLC. I built my educational consulting practice around a fundamental belief that parents should be empowered to advocate for their own children. I loved watching children and families learn to assert their rights and obtain the free appropriate education to which they were entitled.
Over time, however, I encountered more than a few situations in which even the most well-informed and assertive families needed more help. In 2016 I decided to open the Law Office of Jenifer Kasten, LLC so that I can continue to educate and empower families and provide direct legal representation when the need arises.
